Rural communities across the Lismore Local Government Area will have a stronger voice in flood risk management, with Lismore City Council expanding its Flood Risk Management Committee to include dedicated representatives from the northern and southern rural areas.
Council is now calling for expressions of interest from eligible residents to fill the new positions. It is seeking people who can bring local knowledge, lived experience, strong community connections and a collaborative approach to the committee.
The expansion recognises the important role rural perspectives play in understanding flood risk and shaping catchment-wide flood resilience planning across the Lismore Local Government Area.
The new representatives will help ensure the experiences and priorities of rural communities are considered as part of broader flood risk management and resilience planning.
