Ballina Shire residents are invited to take part in free bike safety and maintenance workshops in Ballina and Lennox Head this April.

Ballina Shire Council will host the sessions on 8 and 9 April 2026, giving local riders the chance to have their bikes checked and pick up practical safety tips.

“Whether you are an experienced rider and mechanic or new to the game, come along and have your bike checked over by experts, get some great tips, and have your questions answered,” said Helen Carpenter, Road Safety Officer.

The workshops are designed to support safer riding across the Shire, covering everything from basic maintenance to local road rules and shared path etiquette.

Participants will receive:

  • bike safety checks (no repairs or parts provided on-site)
  • basic maintenance tips and advice
  • helmet fitting guidance
  • information on road rules and riding etiquette for roads, shared paths, and rail trails
  • e-bike regulations
  • advice on riding safely with children

Workshops will be held:
Wednesday 8 April – Richmond Room, Ballina, 9.30am to 11.30am
Thursday 9 April – Lennox Head Cultural Centre (meeting rooms 1, 2, and 3), 9.30am to 11.30am

Each session is limited to 30 participants and will run for approximately two hours. Registration is essential.

Residents are encouraged to bring their own bike along with any safety questions.
