Coffs Harbour man charged after alleged machete home invasion

Double demerit points will apply for the holiday season

A 43-year-old man has been charged after an alleged armed home invasion in Coffs Harbour on Thursday night.

Police were called to a home in Eugourie Close about 6.30pm following reports a man had allegedly entered the property armed with a machete and carrying a can of fuel.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District were told the alleged intruder threatened and assaulted an occupant inside the home.

Police arrested the man at the property and seized a machete and can of fuel.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with:

  • aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence — armed
  • common assault
  • destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000
  • intimidate officer in execution of duty (two counts).

The man was refused bail and was due to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Friday.
