A motorcyclist has died after striking a kangaroo on a road south of Taree.
Emergency services were called to Tuncurry Tip Road at Darawank, about 20km south of Taree, shortly before 7am on Tuesday after reports a motorcycle rider had been found dead.
Officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District established a crime scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police inquiries indicate the 37-year-old rider struck a kangaroo, which also appears to have been killed in the collision.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the crash, or anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Taree Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
