Food businesses across the MidCoast are being encouraged to attend a free seminar aimed at improving food handling practices, strengthening hygiene standards and boosting customer confidence.
MidCoast Council will host the Food Safety Seminar at the Forster Civic Centre on Tuesday, 24 November, from 2pm to 5pm.
The event is open to food business owners and hospitality workers, including chefs, cooks, kitchen hands and wait staff.
The seminar will cover safe food handling, storage and hygiene practices, providing a refresher for experienced workers and an introduction for those new to the industry.
Attendees will hear from industry experts with more than 50 years of combined food safety experience, including a former chef.
All participants will receive a certificate of attendance to support businesses in meeting their obligations under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, Standard 3.2.2A.
The seminar forms part of the council’s ongoing support for local food businesses, which includes training videos, newsletters and individual advice on food safety requirements.
These initiatives also help businesses work towards higher ratings under the Scores on Doors program, which recognises food safety and hygiene standards and helps build consumer confidence.
The council says maintaining safe food handling practices not only protects customers but also supports local businesses by encouraging repeat patronage.
Food business owners and staff can register for the free seminar at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/events.
