MidCoast residents are being encouraged to help shape the region’s future, with public consultation now open on a draft Community Wellbeing and Inclusion Action Plan 2026–2036.
The 10-year plan aims to improve community wellbeing and inclusion by bringing several existing council strategies together into one document, allowing MidCoast Council to better coordinate services, programs and initiatives.
The draft plan combines the Aboriginal Action Plan, Youth Strategic Plan, Disability Inclusion Action Plan and Ageing Strategy.
It also incorporates actions from Council’s Cultural Plan to improve cultural outcomes across the region. A separate Cultural Plan will remain in place and is scheduled for review in 2027.
MidCoast Council Executive Manager Public Spaces Liam Bulley said the decision to consolidate the plans followed community feedback.
“We consolidated the plans in response to community feedback we received during check-ins on the various plans,” Bulley said.
“Bringing these plans together reduces duplication and links related actions. It will create a clearer pathway so we can focus on delivery.
“It will also simplify future plan updates and streamline community consultation.”
The draft plan focuses on areas where Council can deliver services or provide support, while acknowledging that some community challenges fall outside its direct responsibilities.
Council says the streamlined approach will help reduce duplication, improve coordination and provide clearer direction for initiatives supporting people of all ages and backgrounds across the MidCoast.
Residents, community groups and organisations are invited to review the draft plan and provide feedback before submissions close on Monday, 16 November 2026.
Feedback received during the consultation period will help shape the final Community Wellbeing and Inclusion Action Plan before it is considered for adoption by Council.
The draft plan and submission details are available at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/wellbeing.
