A 53-year-old man has been charged with nine offences after allegedly ramming two vehicles, injuring motorists and attempting to break into a home near Lismore.
Police allege the incidents began about 9.15pm on Tuesday, 13 October, when an SUV travelling west along Ballina Road at Goonellabah was followed by a sedan being driven erratically.
The sedan allegedly collided with the rear of the SUV before leaving the scene.
A short time later, the same sedan allegedly struck a station wagon several times, causing it to crash into a power pole on the Bruxner Highway at South Lismore.
The occupants of the station wagon suffered minor injuries, while the power pole was damaged.
Police allege the sedan driver again fled the scene without stopping to assist.
Officers later attended a property on Numulgi Road at Woodlawn, where the driver was allegedly attempting to break into a home.
The 53-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station.
During a search of the sedan, police allegedly found cannabis and a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The man was charged with nine offences, including two counts each of menacing driving, failing to provide particulars to another driver and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was also charged with failing to stop and assist after a collision causing injury, entering enclosed land without lawful excuse and destroying or damaging property.
He was refused bail and is due to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday, 16 October.
