Joyce Martin celebrates remarkable 106th birthday in Wingham

Joyce Martin has celebrated her 106th birthday, marking more than a century of life, history and community spirit surrounded by family and friends in Wingham.

Born in Killabakh on 25 May 1920, Martin has lived through some of the most significant moments in Australia’s history and remains a cherished member of the local community. She celebrated the milestone at a special morning tea alongside her daughter, Mary Pilotto, loved ones and Member for Myall Lakes Tanya Thompson.

Thompson said it was a privilege to join Martin for the occasion.

“Reaching 106 years of age is a truly extraordinary milestone and it was an honour to join Joyce, Mary and loved ones to celebrate this very special birthday,” Thompson said.

“Joyce has lived through incredible moments in our nation’s history and represents a generation defined by hard work, strength and community spirit. Joyce’s story is a wonderful reminder of the rich history and remarkable people we have in our region.”

Martin is believed to be among the oldest residents in the district, making the occasion even more remarkable.

“On behalf of the Myall Lakes community, I wish Joyce a very happy 106th birthday and many more wonderful moments with her family and loved ones.”
