A man has faced court after being charged following an alleged pursuit in a stolen vehicle on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Police were called to Cook Drive, Coffs Harbour, about 6.20am on Friday after reports a vehicle had been stolen.
Officers were told a Great Wall utility had allegedly been taken from a car park.
A short time later, police were called to a home on South Boambee Road, Boambee, following reports of a trespassing incident.
Police were told the Great Wall utility had arrived at the property and a man allegedly approached the home and stood on the rear porch.
Two dogs at the property approached the man and he allegedly fled in the utility after sustaining bite wounds.
About 6.50am, officers patrolling Stadium Drive, Coffs Harbour, attempted to stop a Great Wall utility.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop, police initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit continued along Hogbin Drive to Hi-Tech Drive at Toormina, where the utility crashed into a fence.
The alleged driver, a 42-year-old man, was arrested a short time later after a brief foot pursuit.
During a search, police allegedly located and seized two multi-tools with knife attachments.
The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with:
- Steal motor vehicle
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
- Break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent (steal)
- Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
- Custody of knife in public place
He was refused bail and was due to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Friday, June 12.
