A man has been charged over a string of alleged traffic and property offences across the Mid North Coast and is due to face court today.
Police allege the offences, committed between 9 and 19 June, were linked.
About 8:55 pm on 9 June, police attempted to stop a vehicle on Bay Street at Port Macquarie. The driver allegedly failed to stop, prompting a pursuit that was later terminated due to safety concerns. Police began an investigation.
Four days later, about 10:10 am on 13 June, police allege a man stole items from a supermarket on Hastings River Drive. When confronted by an employee in the car park, he allegedly drove away, striking the 27-year-old woman with the vehicle and causing minor leg injuries.
Police also allege cash was stolen from three Port Macquarie businesses on 14, 18 and 19 June.
About 11:20 am yesterday, officers from the Mid North Coast Proactive Crime Team attempted to stop a man walking along Clifton Drive at Port Macquarie.
A 49-year-old man was arrested on nearby Mayworth Street after what police described as a lengthy foot pursuit.
Police allege they found a set of pliers during a search of the man.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and charged with 18 offences, including three counts of break and enter, two counts of attempted break and enter, two counts of driving while disqualified, two counts of committing a section 114 offence after a previous conviction, shoplifting, negligent driving, failing to give particulars to an injured person, possessing housebreaking implements, dangerous driving during a police pursuit and breaching bail.
He was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today.
