A carer has been charged with property offences after police investigating more than $140,000 in alleged unauthorised bank card transactions seized jewellery, handbags, perfume and electronics from a Tweed Heads South home.
The 57-year-old woman was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station about 3pm on Thursday and charged with four offences.
Police began investigating in October 2025 after several unauthorised purchases were allegedly made using an elderly man’s bank card.
Investigators identified more than 200 unauthorised transactions allegedly made in August and October 2025, totalling more than $140,000.
During the investigation, police also received information that gold jewellery had been stolen from an elderly woman’s home in Tweed Heads South.
Officers executed a search warrant at a Falcon Way home in Tweed Heads South on June 10.
Police said the home belonged to a woman who had provided domestic care services to both the elderly man and woman.
Officers allegedly seized a large quantity of jewellery, 31 unopened bottles of perfume, nine handbags and electronics during the search.
A gold chain and pendant matching the description of jewellery reported stolen from the elderly woman were also allegedly found.
Police returned to the Tweed Heads South home about 8.30am on Thursday and executed a second search warrant.
Electronics, appliances and furniture believed to have been unlawfully obtained were allegedly seized.
The woman was charged with two counts of attempt receive property-theft=serious indictable more than $5,000, as well as dishonestly obtain property by deception and deal with property proceeds of crime (more than $100,000).
She was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on September 28.
Police are continuing to examine jewellery seized during the searches.
