A Nambucca Heads woman fell to the floor at work when she found out she had scooped more than $5.2 million in a rare four-way split of Powerball’s division one prize.
The Nambucca Heads win was one of four division one prizes shared from Powerball draw 1581, drawn Thursday, 3 September. It is only the second time in a decade that four entries have split the top prize.
Each winner will take home $5,200,007.13 from the $20 million jackpot. The winning numbers were 19, 10, 1, 14, 11, 32 and 16, with the Powerball 11.
A further 74 players across divisions two and three also picked up five-figure prizes, taking home $13,089.15 and $19,046.15 respectively.
The Nambucca Heads woman could barely get her words out when The Lott broke the news.
“F***ing hell. Oh my God. What the hell? I think I’m dying. I’ve just fallen to the floor at work,” she said.
The other three division one prizes went to entries outside the North Coast. A Murarrie, Queensland, father said the win meant he could finally ease off the pace.
“I’m on cloud nine. I’ve just retired but my wife is still working,” he said.
A Berwick, Victoria, couple said they were in disbelief when the call came through.
“We didn’t believe it at first. We thought something was not right,” they said.
The fourth winning entry, bought in person at Saigon Bookshop and Lottery in Cabramatta Mall in western Sydney, is yet to come forward. The Lott says it has been unable to track the winner down using the contact details registered against the ticket.
Back on the North Coast, the Nambucca Heads woman said the win would change everything.
“This is an absolute life-changer. I’m a very hard worker but this means I’ll be able to take some time off and work a bit less,” she said.
