The Casino Show will return to the Casino Showgrounds on Friday, 9 October and Saturday, 10 October, bringing families, farmers, exhibitors and visitors from across the Northern Rivers together for two big days of entertainment.
The Show is one of the much-loved community events of the Richmond Valley and Northern Rivers, with a proud history spanning more than 130 years. Built on strong agricultural foundations, it continues to celebrate the people, industries, traditions and community spirit that make Casino and the surrounding region special.
The Show also promotes local and interstate producers and exhibitors, and brings a carnival atmosphere with sideshow alley and market stalls.
There will be something for everyone this year. A huge range of agricultural and traditional show events will run alongside plenty of new attractions. The program includes cattle judging, horse events, campdrafting, poultry and pavilion exhibits, market stalls, food vendors, sideshow attractions and entertainment for the whole family.
One of the highlights will be the Car and Ute Show on Saturday, 10 October. Categories include muscle cars, street machines, classics, hot rods, motorbikes, Ford, Holden, Japanese, American and utes. There will also be the coveted Car of the Show award.
Another major attraction will be the Tug-of-War competition, which brings teams together for some friendly but competitive fun. Teams must have a captain and will compete for significant prize money. Separate sections give adults and younger competitors a chance to take part.
The ever-popular campdraft will also feature, along with a range of ring events and equestrian activities. These events highlight the strong agricultural and rural traditions of the Casino area. They attract competitors and spectators from across the region.
The pavilion remains an important part of the Show. It showcases the talents and hard work of local residents through displays and competitions in produce, vegetables and fruit, horticulture, home cookery and preserves, needlework, craft, photography and art. The exhibits help maintain the traditions of the Show and give people of all ages a chance to get involved.
Camping will again be available at the Showgrounds for those travelling to the Show. Breakfast, coffee and cold drinks will be on offer for campers on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The Casino Show Society will run the breakfast service, including big breakfasts and bacon and egg rolls.
The Show relies heavily on the support of volunteers, local businesses, sponsors, community organisations and individuals who give their time. Many people work behind the scenes, from running competitions and catering to setting up the grounds, assisting exhibitors and helping visitors.
The Casino Show Society is particularly proud of the role the Show plays in supporting and showcasing local businesses, community groups, agricultural organisations and young people. It gives local organisations a chance to be involved, businesses a chance to connect with the community, and families a chance to enjoy an event that has been part of Casino’s history for generations.
The Society is building on the traditions of the past while introducing new events and activities to keep the Show relevant and exciting for future generations. Its aim is to celebrate Casino’s agricultural heritage while offering a fun, welcoming and entertaining weekend for the whole community.
