Event organisers in Ballina Shire can now apply for a share of about $150,000 to help stage festivals and events in 2027-28.
Ballina Shire Council’s Festival and Event Support Program, now in its 16th year, is open for applications.
“Local events and festivals are essential for connecting and uniting our community, bringing positive social and economic benefits that enrich our region,” said Ballina Shire Mayor Sharon Cadwallader.
“Given the time and effort required to plan these events, it is important we confirm this funding for event organisers well ahead of the 2027/28 financial year.”
The program has backed a range of successful events over the years, including Fair Go, Love Lennox, the Alstonville New Years Eve Festival, and the Soundboks Oz Grom Open.
To be eligible, the festival or event must be held in Ballina Shire and cost more than $20,000 in total to run. Applicants must also hold adequate public liability insurance.
Applications close on Friday, 6 November.
They will be considered at the December 2026 council meeting, so organisers know the outcome by early January 2027.
“If you’re planning an event in the shire or know an organisation that could benefit from this funding to enhance their event or festival, online applications can be completed at the Ballina Shire Council website,” Mayor Cadwallader said.
