Monster trucks, jetpacks, a rodeo, and fireworks every night will take over the Lismore Showground from Thursday, 15 October, when the North Coast National Lismore Show returns for three huge days.
The show runs until Saturday, 17 October, and the full program is now online, with something for everyone.
“We are really excited about this year’s Lismore Show,” said North Coast National A & I Society President John Gibson.
“We’ve got a fantastic program with everything people know and love about the Show, along with some great new additions that we think will be a real hit.”
This year’s theme is Women in Agriculture. The show kicks off on Thursday morning with a sold-out Women in Agriculture Breakfast, featuring Gaela Hurford, a successful businesswoman and industry leader; Heidi Hayes, Livestock Manager at The Casino Food Company; and Anunaki Holmes, a regenerative agriculture student and farmer.
“Women have always played a vital role in agriculture, whether that’s on the farm, in business or across the many industries that support our rural communities,” Mr Gibson said.
Then comes something a little different. The Hobby Horse Competition, a growing international phenomenon, will be held in the Main Arena at 5pm on Friday and Saturday. Participants of all ages are invited to compete in a 50-metre dash and show jumping.
“It’s certainly something a little different, and we’re expecting plenty of laughs and some fierce competition,” Mr Gibson said.
“We’ve seen how popular hobby horsing has become around the world, so we thought we’d bring it to Lismore and give everyone a chance to get involved.”
For the thrill seekers, the Northern Rivers Ford Spectacular returns with monster trucks, freestyle motocross riders and jaw-dropping jetpack performances, with shows scheduled across all three days.
The PRIMEX Rodeo Spectacular, presented by J&J Rodeo, returns to the Main Arena on Saturday evening from 6pm, featuring bull riding, barrel racing and line dancing. The skies above the Showground will light up each night with the George & Fuhrmann Fireworks Spectacular at 8pm.
Families can also enjoy Ashton’s Circus, Steve McEwan’s Reptile World, the animal nursery, showbags, carnival rides, the Shimano Fishing Show, and free activities in the Kidz Zone.
The traditional agricultural competitions remain at the heart of the show, including beef cattle judging, poultry, equestrian events, show jumping, woodchopping, and the popular George & Fuhrmann Steer Classic.
Other highlights include the 30 Tonne Truck Pull Competition on Saturday morning, the North Coast National Grand Parade at 1.30pm on Saturday, and a packed program of live music and local performances on the Thearle Electrical Community Stage.
“The Lismore Show has been bringing our community together for generations, and that’s something we’re incredibly proud of,” he said.
“While the big attractions are always popular, the Show is also about celebrating our farmers, our young people, our local exhibitors and the volunteers who put so much time and effort into making it all happen.”
