Amileka, the Federal home used as the villa in the 2021 series of Love Island Australia, has sold. The series was hosted by Sophie Monk, and the most recent price guide for the home was $6 million.

The white, minimalist retreat on Blackbean Lane sits on 10 hectares in the Byron Bay hinterland. Spotify Australia head Mikaela Lancaster and her husband Mark Britt, a former iFLIX chief executive, own the property. The most recent guidance came through Will Phillips of Sotheby’s International.

Architect Sharon Fraser designed the 2008 home. Architect Sharon Fraser designed the 2008 home, which has won two significant awards. They are Best Property in Australia at the 2009 CNBC International Property Awards and the Australian Institute of Architects (NSW Country Division) 2008 Architecture Award.

It last traded in 2022, during the pandemic-driven boom, when Ms Lancaster and Mr Britt paid $9.5 million.

The couple first listed the property in October 2024 through McGrath. The price guide at that time was $8 million to $9 million.

The listing describes a five-bedroom main residence with expansive glazing, honed concrete floors and a stone island kitchen. It has a sunken lounge, an alfresco terrace and a media room. Outside are an 18-metre pool, a fire pit area and a separate three-bedroom residence with its own pool.

Amileka is not the only Byron hinterland estate to see a sharp drop in vendor expectations. The Ranch at Talofa, a 14-hectare property on Bangalow Road, sold before its auction through Gold Coast agent Amir Mian. The price was not disclosed, but the estate is understood to have fetched $10 million after a campaign that drew 500,000 social media views.

Lyn Makin, the widow of horse breeder Paul Makin, first listed The Ranch in February with hopes of more than $18 million, through Mr Phillips. The Makins paid $4,025,000 for it in 2016.

American couple Rebecca and Richard Korhammer built the four-pavilion, log cabin-style home. The grounds have a 25-metre lap pool, a spa, a tennis court and creek frontage with a swimming hole and waterfall.

The Amileka listing pitched the estate as “a private sanctuary where refined living and exceptional craftsmanship meet in perfect balance,” the listing stated.
