Knives, knuckle dusters, a stolen caravan, and a stash of replica pistols have been allegedly seized in raids at Bundook and Tuncurry. A 38-year-old man now faces 10 charges.
Strike Force Ontar was set up in May 2026 by officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District and the Rural Crime Prevention Team. Its job was to investigate the sale of unauthorised firearms in the Manning Great Lakes area.
At about 2pm on Thursday, 22 October, officers executed a search warrant at a rural property in Bundook. Police allegedly found and seized three knives and knuckle dusters, as well as a caravan. Further inquiries found the caravan had been reported stolen from Nabiac on 11 November 2023.
At about 7.30pm the same day, police went to a home on Margina Close, Tuncurry, and arrested a 38-year-old man. After searching the home, police allegedly found six replica gel blaster pistols and ammunition.
The man was taken to Forster Police Station and charged with 10 offences. They are seven counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, goods in personal custody suspected stolen (not motor vehicle or vessel), possess ammunition without holding licence or permit or authority, and possess more than three unregistered firearms, one of which is prohibited or a pistol.
He was refused bail and was due to appear before Bail Division Court 6 on Friday, 23 October.
