The NSW Liberals and Nationals have announced a new slate of Shadow Parliamentary Secretaries, reinforcing their policy priorities ahead of the 2027 state election and sharpening scrutiny on the Minns Labor Government.
The appointments include newly created positions focused on regional crime prevention, men’s health, and housing affordability—areas of increasing concern across the state, particularly in regional communities such as the North Coast.
Among those named is Clarence MP Richie Williamson, who has been appointed Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Regional NSW and Local Government, positioning him to advocate on infrastructure and service delivery for towns across the North Coast.
Meanwhile, Tweed MP Geoff Provest returns to the Opposition front bench with responsibilities for Hospitality and Gaming, and Tourism—key economic drivers in the region. With post-pandemic recovery still ongoing for tourism operators, the Nationals are likely to focus pressure on Labor’s performance in regional economic support.
Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane said the appointments reflect the Coalition’s readiness to govern and a focus on delivering outcomes for both metropolitan and regional communities.
“The Minns Labor Government has failed to deliver on its promises, with families, households and businesses paying the price,” Ms Sloane said.
“These appointments add depth and focus to our Shadow Ministry, ensuring we apply constant pressure on the Government while developing credible, practical solutions for New South Wales.”
NSW Nationals Leader Gurmesh Singh said the expanded team will ensure regional priorities, particularly in areas like the North Coast, receive stronger advocacy in Parliament.
“Our communities expect strong advocacy and real outcomes. These appointments ensure regional and local priorities are front and centre, while Labor’s failures on services, infrastructure and economic management are exposed and challenged,” Mr Singh said.
The Opposition said the new roles were part of a long-term plan aimed at boosting economic growth, easing cost-of-living pressures, improving housing access, and supporting frontline services in both urban and regional areas.
