Roll up for sick kids at Club Tweed bowls day

Tweed Community Clubs have been strong supporters of Our Kids children’s charity in the past, helping with the purchase of vital equipment for the Emergency Department at Tweed Valley Hospital (supplied)

The Northern Rivers community is being invited to roll up for a day of fun and fundraising, with a barefoot bowls event at Club Tweed set to support sick local children and their families.

Bowls for Our Kids will be held on Thursday 23 April at Club Tweed, bringing together community members for an afternoon of bowls, live music, entertainment and a barbecue lunch, all in support of paediatric wards at Tweed Valley Hospital.

Hosted by Tweed Community Clubs, the event continues a long-standing partnership with the Our Kids charity, which helps fund vital equipment across hospital services including the Emergency Department, Women’s Care, the Special Care Nursery and the Children’s Ward.

Teams of four are invited to take part, with entry set at $100 per team. The day will begin with a barbecue lunch at 12pm, followed by bowls from 1pm.

Live music from Angus Holmes and Curt Luxton, along with a face painter from 12.30pm, will add to the family-friendly atmosphere.

Our Kids Fundraising Coordinator Rebekka Battista said the event is a chance for the community to come together for a good cause.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to gather, have some fun and raise funds to help keep our kids local when needing medical care,” Ms Battista said.

All funds raised will go to Our Kids, supporting children with special needs and chronic illness across the Northern Rivers.

Community members, businesses and groups are encouraged to form a team and take part in the day.
