Great Lakes United Football Club and its local community will benefit from $84,200 in NSW Government funding to upgrade facilities at Boronia Park Sports Complex.
Member for Myall Lakes Tanya Thompson said the funding, delivered through the Infrastructure Grants Program’s ClubGrants Category 3 Fund, would support improved drainage at the grounds, helping ensure the fields remain accessible and safe for local players and families.
“This is a fantastic investment in local sport that will significantly improve the usability and resilience of the playing fields,” Thompson said.
“By upgrading drainage at Boronia Park, we can reduce weather-related disruptions, improve safety and ensure better playing conditions for participants throughout the season.”
The project is expected to deliver more reliable access to sport for the many junior and senior players who rely on the fields each week, as well as volunteers and families who support the club.
Thompson said Great Lakes United Football Club played an important role in bringing the community together.
“Great Lakes United Football Club is a wonderful community club, driven by passionate volunteers and committed families who work tirelessly to create opportunities for players of all ages and abilities,” she said.
“Investments like this are essential to ensuring clubs can continue to grow and provide positive sporting experiences for their local community, while also supporting their long-term sustainability through more consistent game days.”
Thompson said the upgrade would strengthen grassroots sport while supporting community connection in the region.
“This project will make a real difference for Great Lakes United and the many local families who rely on these facilities each week.”
