Driver charged after fatal cyclist crash on Mid North Coast

A man has been charged following a crash that claimed the life of a cyclist on the state’s Mid North Coast late last year.

Emergency services were called to the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway at Bulahdelah about 6am on Monday, 22 December 2025, after reports a cyclist had been struck by a truck.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the cyclist, a 20-year-old man; however, he died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 58-year-old man, was taken to Manning Base Hospital in Taree for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the crash commenced.

Following inquiries by officers attached to the Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit, the man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice about 2.15 pm Tuesday, 21 April 2026, for dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

He is due to appear at Taree Local Court on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

The man’s driver’s licence has been suspended.
