A “missing link” footpath will be built at Korora at no cost to the community under a proposed undertaking by a developer.
At its meeting on 23 April, City of Coffs Harbour Council voted to place the draft Opal Cove Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) on public exhibition.
The draft VPA is linked to a development application for a subdivision that would create three community title lots, involve demolition of existing Opal Cove Resort structures (including pavilions and tennis courts), deliver environmental protection works and dedicate land as public reserve.
The development application has been lodged with the City and is being assessed.
“The draft VPA between the City and PT Investment Group Pty Ltd would see the developer construct a three-metre wide gravel footpath connecting James Small Drive to the existing walking trail at Pine Brush Creek Bridge,” City Planning and Communities Director Ian Fitzgibbon said.
“Additionally, the developer would part with a small parcel of land to ensure the new footpath remains entirely on public reserve.”
The application proposes two new vacant lots, with a third lot to contain the existing Opal Cove Resort.
The vacant lots would be established north of the resort, adjoining the City-controlled public reserve that includes Pine Brush Creek.
The draft VPA is available on the City’s website. Submissions close Tuesday, 26 May.
