Man charged over fatal motorcycle crash near South West Rocks

A man has been charged following a fatal motorcycle crash on the NSW Mid North Coast earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to Gregory Street, near Spencers Creek Road at South West Rocks, about 5pm on Sunday 5 April 2026, following reports of a crash.

Officers from the Mid North Coast Police District and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and found a motorcycle rider had crashed before becoming trapped under a nearby vehicle.

Emergency services freed the rider and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him for critical injuries. However, he died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit began inquiries into the circumstances of the crash.

Following investigations, a 73-year-old man was today (Tuesday 16 June 2026) issued with a Court Attendance Notice for allegedly negligent driving occasioning death.

The man is due to appear before Kempsey Local Court on Thursday 3 September 2026.
