A 35-year-old man has been charged after another man was allegedly wounded with a screwdriver at South Kempsey.
Emergency services were called to a home on Teague Drive about 6:30pm on Friday following reports of a concern for welfare.
Police were told two men, aged 34 and 35 and known to each other, had been involved in an argument.
During the altercation, the 35-year-old man allegedly threw a screwdriver at the younger man, which lodged in his right eye, before leaving the scene.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 34-year-old before he was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital in a stable condition. He was later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.
Officers from the Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and launched an investigation.
Following inquiries, police arrested the 35-year-old man at the Teague Drive property about 3:30pm on Saturday.
He was taken to Kempsey Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.
The man was refused bail and was due to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Sunday.
