Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions in and around Coffs Harbour next week as work continues on the Coffs Harbour bypass.
Korora area
Single lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place on the southbound Pacific Highway from Monday to Friday, 7pm to 6am, between Opal Boulevard and Campbell Close for barrier relocation and asphalt works.
Concrete pours will continue for the Pacific Highway bridge over Pine Brush Creek, between the Luke Bowen Pedestrian Bridge and James Small Drive (north). A deck pour will be carried out on Friday during approved construction hours, including 4.30am to 7am and 6pm to 8pm. Concrete pours must be continuous to ensure strength and structural integrity during curing.
On Saturday, 7am to 8am and 1pm to 6pm, the following work will be carried out along the highway:
- Earthworks between the new bus interchange and Campbell Close
- Drainage installation between James Small Drive (south) and the Luke Bowen Pedestrian Bridge
- Bridge finishing works and approaches at Pine Brush Creek and the highway bridge underpass north of Opal Boulevard
Earthworks and truck movements will also take place at the western end of West Korora Road during these times.
Traffic control will be in place on James Small Drive (south) to manage heavy vehicle movements during approved construction hours.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit will apply at the eastern end of Bruxner Park Road to facilitate construction of a private property access.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit will also be in place on West Korora Road, north of the Gatelys Road Tunnel.
A controlled blast will be carried out at Cut 16, between West Korora Road and Bruxner Park Road, on Friday between 1pm and 3pm.
Mackays Road area
Earthworks, material crushing, private property access construction and drainage installation are continuing between the Shephards Lane and Gatelys Road tunnels. Most work will be undertaken during approved construction hours, with some scheduled on Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.
Pre-start and site set-up activities between the tunnels will take place Monday to Friday, 6am to 7am.
Installation of intelligent transport systems (ITS) infrastructure is continuing in the Gatelys Road Tunnel, with most work during approved construction hours and some on Saturday, 1pm to 5pm.
Traffic control will be in place on and across Mackays Road during approved construction hours to manage heavy vehicle movements, earthworks and signage installation.
Shephards Lane area
Earthworks, barrier construction, asphalt laying and ITS installation are continuing in the Shephards Lane Tunnel. Most work will occur during approved construction hours, with some scheduled on Saturday from 7am to 8am and 1pm to 5pm.
Earthworks and drainage installation are continuing between the Shephards Lane Tunnel southern portal and north of the Coramba Road Interchange, with some Saturday work during the same hours.
Concrete pours will continue for the bridge over the North Coast railway line, west of Pearce Drive. Most work will be carried out during approved construction hours, with additional activity Monday to Friday from 5.30am to 7am and 6pm to 7pm. Concrete pours must be continuous to ensure structural integrity.
Single lane closures and short stoppages will be in place on and west of the new Shephards Lane Bridge, Monday to Friday, during approved construction hours to allow earthworks on the eastern side of the bridge.
Traffic lights will continue to operate on the new bridge 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Coramba Road area
Single lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place on Bennetts Road, Monday to Friday, for local access construction, drainage installation, asphalt works and landscaping. Work will be carried out during approved construction hours.
Single lane closures and short stoppages will occur on Coramba Road, east of the Coramba Road Interchange, on Wednesday for ITS installation.
Earthworks and drainage installation are continuing between the Shephards Lane Tunnel southern portal and north of the Coramba Road Interchange, with some work scheduled on Saturday from 7am to 8am and 1pm to 5pm.
Earthworks and asphalt laying are continuing between the Coramba Road Interchange and the Roberts Hill Tunnel northern portal. Most work will occur during approved construction hours, with some on Saturday from 7am to 8am and 1pm to 5pm.
Earthworks, drainage installation, ITS installation and asphalt laying are continuing in the Roberts Hill Tunnel. Most work will be carried out during approved construction hours, with additional activity Monday to Friday from 5am to 7am and Saturday from 6am to 8am.
Boambee and North Boambee area
Single lane closures and short stoppages will be in place at the Englands Road Interchange western roundabout on Tuesday for ITS installation. Work will be carried out during approved construction hours.
The project’s temporary asphalt batch plant may operate outside approved construction hours when required, with associated truck movements along North Boambee Road. Most operations will occur during approved construction hours, with some between 6pm and 7am, Monday to Friday.
Earthworks, asphalt laying, drainage, kerb and noise wall installation are continuing on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway between the Sawtell Interchange, the Englands Road/Stadium Drive roundabout and the Englands Road Interchange. Some Saturday work is scheduled from 7am to 8am and 1pm to 6pm.
Crushing and material haulage are continuing between North Boambee Road and the Roberts Hill Tunnel southern portal, with some Saturday work from 7am to 8am and 1pm to 5pm.
Asphalt laying is continuing on bridges between the Englands Road Interchange and North Boambee Road, with some Saturday work from 7am to 8am and 1pm to 6pm.
Motorists are advised to drive to conditions and follow the directions of signage and traffic controllers.
