Seniors Week 2026: the North Coast celebrates “Live Life in Colour”

Across the North Coast, communities will celebrate the 2026 NSW Seniors Festival from 2–15 March, embracing this year’s vibrant theme, “Live Life in Colour.” From creative workshops and concerts to wellbeing sessions and community gatherings, the fortnight promises something for every interest and ability.

Coffs Harbour

Coffs Harbour City Council has delivered a full calendar of events across the festival period.

Highlights include:

  • Monday 2 March – Art for Arthritis, 10am–12.30pm (Coffs Harbour Library)
  • Tuesday 3 March – Yarrila Seniors Fest: Live Life in Colour, 10.30am–12.30pm; Declutter Your Life Workshop, 1.30pm–3.30pm
  • Wednesday 4 March – Craft & Connect, 10.30am–12.30pm
  • Thursday 5 March – Tech Essentials: Fundamental Apps, 10.30am–12.30pm
  • Friday 6 March – Tech Essentials: Free Google Apps, 10.30am–12.30pm (Toormina Library)
  • Monday 9 March – Guided Gallery Tour, 10.30am; Colour at Play Workshop, 11am–12.30pm
  • Tuesday 10 March – Karangi Dam Tour (departing 9am); Dementia Friendly Workshop, 10.30am–12.30pm
  • Wednesday 11 March – Casual Games Morning, 10.30am–12.30pm

Tweed Shire

Tweed Shire Council’s festival program spans the full two weeks, featuring more than 40 events across the region.

Highlights include:

  • Monday 2 March – Opening Ceremony, 10am–12pm at Murwillumbah Civic & Cultural Centre Auditorium. Kick off the festival with the Local Achievement Awards, performances from the Fiddle Faddle Band and Classic Movers, a complimentary morning tea, and the Seniors Health & Wellness Expo.
  • Monday 2 March – Act Now, Stay Secure (Online Safety Workshop), 1pm–2pm
  • Tuesday 3 March – Memory in Colour: Dementia Awareness Workshop, 11am–12.30pm & 2pm–3.30pm
  • Wednesday 4 March – Banora Point Walking Group, 7am (meet 6.50am)
  • Thursday 5 March – Street Tech Support, 11am–12pm
  • Friday 6 March – Pottsville & District Men’s Shed Health & Wellness Expo 9am–2pm
  • Tuesday 10 March – FABS (Fun Activities Banora Seniors) Open Day, 10am–3pm
  • Wednesday 11 March – Shine on Wollumbin: Sing, Socialise and Shine, 10am–11.30am
  • Friday 13 March – Morning Tea Cruise with Tweed Eco Cruises, 9am–10.30am
  • Sunday 15 March – Weaving with Kyra Togo, 11am–1pm

Additional events across 2–15 March include live music performances, lifestyle workshops, expos, fitness sessions, and community gatherings celebrating healthy, active ageing.

The Tweed Region will kick their celebrations off with an official Opening Ceremony on 2 March.

Port Macquarie–Hastings

Port Macquarie–Hastings Council’s program blends creativity, movement and learning opportunities.

Key dates include:

Ballina

Ballina will host two feature events as part of the statewide festival:

  • Wednesday 11 March – Dementia Inclusive Ballina Seniors Music Muster, 9.30am–1.30pm (Ballina RSL Club)
  • Thursday 12 March – Ballina Seniors Week Lunch – Dean Doyle with Sophistication, 10.30am–1pm (Ballina RSL Auditorium)

Both events offer music, entertainment, and shared meals in welcoming, inclusive settings.

Clarence Valley

The Clarence Valley also joins the celebration:

  • Tuesday 3 March – Digital Legacy Workshop, 10.30am–11.30am (Maclean Library)
  • Wednesday 11 March – Seniors Week Afternoon Tea, 1pm (Maclean Bowling Club)
  • Thursday 12 March – Altered Books and Journalling 9am–2pm (Iluka Library)

These events provide opportunities to learn practical skills, reconnect socially, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon in good company.

From Tweed Heads to Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour to Ballina and the Clarence Valley, the North Coast’s Seniors Festival program offers a vibrant and inclusive two weeks of events from 2–15 March 2026.

Whether it’s yoga on the beach, live music, creative workshops, or morning tea with friends, the message across the coast is clear: seniors are at the heart of community life, and this March, they’re invited to live life in colour.
