The community is being encouraged to provide feedback on a proposal to remove Taree Railway Station from the State Heritage Register.
The NSW Heritage Council is considering the proposal and has opened a public consultation period, allowing residents and interested stakeholders to make submissions.
Member for Myall Lakes Tanya Thompson said the station held significant historical value for the region and many people would want their views heard.
“Taree Railway Station is an important part of our local history and many people in the community will want the opportunity to provide feedback on this proposal,” Thompson said.
“I encourage residents, community groups and anyone with an interest in local heritage to review the information available and make a submission if they wish to do so.”
Thompson said it was important the community was aware of the consultation process and understood that local feedback could be formally considered as part of the decision-making process.
Information on the proposal and details on how to make a submission are available through Heritage NSW.
