Lennox Head Library to close temporarily for refurbishment

Lennox Head Library will close temporarily from Monday, July 6, to Tuesday, July 28, while refurbishment works are carried out to upgrade the community facility.

The works will include repainting, new carpeting and upgrades to staff work areas, aimed at creating a brighter, more functional and welcoming space for library users.

During the closure, Richmond Tweed Regional Library services will remain available through other branches, including nearby libraries in Ballina and Byron Bay. Members will also continue to have access to digital services, including ebooks and eaudiobooks.

Ballina Shire Council Manager Communications and Customer Service Tracy Lister said the refurbishment would enhance the library experience for the community.

“While we understand the temporary closure may cause some inconvenience, these improvements will help ensure Lennox Head Library remains a comfortable and welcoming space for the community to enjoy,” Lister said.

“To make things as easy as possible during the closure, all items borrowed from Lennox Head Library will automatically receive an extended loan period until 5 August 2026.”

Library members are advised the library return chute will be unavailable during the refurbishment. Items can be returned to any Richmond Tweed Regional Library branch, and members can continue to borrow, return and collect reserved items at alternative locations.

Members with existing reservations can also nominate another branch for collection during the closure.

Lennox Head Library is expected to reopen on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
