A teenage boy has been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a business on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Police allege that about 7:50 pm on Thursday, officers attached to the Mid North Coast Police District responded to reports of an armed robbery at a business on Smith Street, Kempsey.
Officers were told a male entered the store armed with a machete, threatened staff and stole the cash register.
A crime scene was established and police began a search of the area.
About 8:10 pm, police patrolling York Lane stopped and searched a 16-year-old boy. Police allege they seized $295 in cash and a machete during the search.
He was arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station, where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
The boy was refused bail and was due to appear before a Children’s Court on Friday.
