Motorcyclist dies after collision with utility at Kempsey

Double demerit points will apply for the holiday season

A 19-year-old motorcyclist has died after a crash with a utility on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Emergency services were called to Macleay Valley Way at Kempsey about 5:30 pm on Wednesday following reports of a crash.

Police said officers from Mid North Coast Police District found a Nissan utility and a motorcycle had collided.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police have since been told the 19-year-old died in hospital.

The driver of the utility, a 21-year-old man, was uninjured and underwent mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash has begun.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
