Residents, commuters and businesses relying on Waterfall Way are being urged to allow extra travel time as multiple roadworks continue between Raleigh and Armidale.
Transport for NSW says several maintenance and infrastructure projects are under way during September and October, with motorists potentially encountering delays at multiple locations between the Pacific Highway at Raleigh and the New England Highway at Armidale.
The greatest impacts are currently between Raleigh and Thora, where three separate projects could each cause delays of up to 10 minutes.
At Fernmount, flood resilience upgrades are under way at Burdett Park between Nicholson Street and Old Brierfield Road.
Motorists can also expect delays at the Gordonville Cutting landslip between Horseshoe Road and Boggy Creek Road, where slope stabilisation work is continuing.
Further west at Myers Bluff near Thora, slope remediation work is resulting in stop-slow traffic conditions and delays of up to 10 minutes.
There are currently no listed impacts between Thora and Dorrigo.
Further along Waterfall Way, stock underpass culvert extension work is being carried out about nine kilometres west of Deer Vale at Hernani.
With several projects occurring along the same route, Transport for NSW is warning motorists that delays could accumulate during longer journeys between communities on the Mid North Coast and New England.
Drivers are being advised to plan ahead, allow additional travel time and follow signs and directions from traffic controllers.
Some works also restrict vehicles wider than 2.5 metres, with affected operators requiring a permit to use the route.
Alternative routes include the Oxley Highway, subject to travel conditions, as well as the Gwydir and New England highways.
Work schedules may change because of weather or other conditions outside Transport for NSW’s control.
Motorists can check current conditions through Live Traffic NSW, while information about other local and regional roadworks is available through Bellingen Shire Council and Armidale Regional Council.
