Kingscliff founder’s activewear goes from run to ocean

A Kingscliff woman who wanted to dive straight into the ocean after a run has turned that idea into a brand, and she will wear it when she races in the Kingscliff Triathlon next month.

Danica Ainsworth launched her Sweat to Swim activewear label, Asmi Active, this month. She says it is the first brand devoted only to high-quality activewear made to be worn on land and in the sea.

The idea came to Ms Ainsworth eight years ago, on what she calls a questionable midday summer run by the coast. All she wanted was to jump in the water afterwards, but she knew her new activewear was not made for it.

She wondered why nothing on the market could handle saltwater and chlorine, when activewear and swimwear look so alike.

Ms Ainsworth had never worked in manufacturing, fashion, or business, but she could not let the idea go. She says the range is for every woman who wants to spend her active day by the water, no matter where she is in her fitness journey.

“Asmi Active was born out the healing power I found in both exercise and the water,” said Asmi Active founder Danica Ainsworth.

“When I was in my darkest place, it was the combination of the two that led me to find happiness again and ultimately creating the Sweat to Swim range.”

“I’m so proud to have finally launched Asmi into the world and can’t wait for other women to enjoy their workout and swim in their new activewear!”

Every piece in the launch range has UV50+ protection, resists chlorine, and dries quickly. The range has nine styles in onyx and merlot, including leggings, shorts, sports bras, briefs, tanks, and tees. Sizes run from XS to XXL.

Ms Ainsworth will put the gear to the test on Sunday, 22 November. She is racing in the Olympic division of the Kingscliff Triathlon, which has a 1500m swim, a 40km cycle, and a 10km run.

The Sweat to Swim range is sold only online at https://www.asmiactive.com/
