The Maclean Show Society will soon have a much easier job maintaining the town’s showground after receiving a $17,250 grant under the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program to purchase a new zero-turn mower.
Clarence Nationals MP Richie Williamson said the funding recognises the importance of the Maclean Showground as a community hub and the dedication of the volunteers who keep it running.
“The Maclean Showground is a vital community hub – from local events to camping and recreation – and it’s kept running by volunteers who dedicate their time and effort year-round,” Mr Williamson said.
“This funding will make it easier for the Show Society to stay on top of maintenance and keep the grounds safe and welcoming for everyone.”
The new 42-inch mower will help volunteers keep the showground in top condition, with mowing needed up to twice a week during summer. The well-maintained site is used year-round by community groups, event organisers and RV campers who regularly visit the area.
Maclean Show Society President Robbie Sutherland said the funding would make a big difference. “It’s great to have a second mower to back up the work we did last year. To have a new one will mean a hell of a lot to help us keep on top of the maintenance at the showground,” Mr Sutherland said.
“We really appreciate the support from Richie and the NSW Government.”
Mr Williamson congratulated the Maclean Show Society on its successful grant application and thanked its volunteers for their continued commitment to the community.
