Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions in and around Coffs Harbour next week as work continues on the Coffs Harbour bypass.
Korora School Road, south of Kororo Public School, will permanently close from Monday, 17 November. Pedestrians on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway will be directed to use the Luke Bowen Pedestrian Bridge and access buses via Russ Hammond Close and Korora School Road (north). This change will enable continued construction of the new bus interchange.
A permanent car park on the western side of the Luke Bowen Pedestrian Bridge will also open from Monday, accessible via Old Coast Road.
Traffic impacts include:
- Pacific Highway southbound: Single-lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place from 7pm to 6am on Monday and Tuesday, between James Small Drive (north) and James Small Drive (south), for vegetation removal.
- Pacific Highway northbound and southbound: Lane closures will be in place from the Sawtell Interchange to Englands Road/Stadium Drive from 6pm to 7am on Monday and Tuesday. Crews will be placing concrete footings to support tunnel safety structures, and installing cabling and safety barriers.
- Shephards Lane: Single-lane closures and short stoppages will occur east and west of the new Shephards Lane Bridge from Monday to Friday for pavement work and drainage installation. This work will take place during approved construction hours.
- Bruxner Park Road: Traffic control and reduced speed limits will be in place from Monday to Friday for road signage installation and maintenance, also within approved hours.
- West Korora Road: Traffic control and reduced speed limits remain in place north of Gatelys Road Tunnel.
- Mackays Road: Ongoing traffic control is in effect for heavy vehicle movements on and across the road.
All works are weather permitting and may be rescheduled in the event of rain or high winds. Emergency and safety maintenance will be carried out as needed.
During periods of dry weather, the project team may operate water carts outside approved construction hours across various locations along the alignment to manage dust.
Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and follow the directions of signage and traffic controllers.
Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
