An 83-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash in the Northern Rivers.
Emergency services were called to Queensland Road, Casino, shortly after 9.30am on Monday 20 April 2026, following reports of a collision.
Officers from Richmond Police District attended and were told a Holden SUV, driven by the 83-year-old man, had collided with the rear of a Toyota SUV driven by a 53-year-old woman.
Police say the Holden then left the roadway, striking a street sign before crashing into a tree.
A passerby performed CPR on the man before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and continued treatment.
He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a critical condition.
The woman driving the Toyota was not injured.
A crime scene was established as police began investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
About 9am on Tuesday 21 April, police were advised the man had died in hospital.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact Casino Police or Crime Stoppers.
