Police are appealing for information following the death of a woman injured in a crash near Wauchope earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to King Creek Road at King Creek, about 3.5 kilometres south of Wauchope, about 10.20am on Saturday 9 May 2026 following reports of a collision.
Officers from Mid North Coast Police District attended and found a Mazda utility and an MG sedan had collided near the Oxley Highway exit.
The driver of the MG, a 37-year-old woman, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed before being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious head and facial injuries.
She was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the Mazda, a 32-year-old woman, was also taken to Port Macquarie Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with assistance from specialist Crash Investigation Unit officers.
About 5.30pm on Friday 15 May, police were informed the 37-year-old woman had died in hospital.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
