Coffs Harbour will remain a home away from home for the Sydney Sixers despite the conclusion of the agreement that brought Big Bash League (BBL) matches to C.ex Coffs International Stadium.
The BBL released the draw for the 2026–27 season, with no matches scheduled for Coffs Harbour. The result was expected following the completion of the five-year agreement between the Sydney Sixers and City of Coffs Harbour, which concluded with the Sixers’ match against the Brisbane Heat on 5 January.
While the Sixers will not play in Coffs Harbour during BBL|16 because of scheduling and the expiry of the agreement, the club has indicated it remains open to returning for future matches.
City Planning and Communities Director Ian Fitzgibbon said the partnership had delivered benefits beyond hosting BBL fixtures.
“The players reached out to the community in so many ways – through fan days, super clinics and the like – and the Sixers have said they are rock-solid in a continuing commitment to Coffs,” Fitzgibbon said.
“In fact we’ll welcome Sixers players here later this month as part of the Country Blitz regional tour on 29-30 July.”
Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes thanked the Coffs Harbour community for its support.
“Coffs Harbour is Sydney Sixers heartland and C.ex Coffs Harbour International Stadium has played host to some of the BBL’s most memorable moments since 2020,” Haynes said.
“We thank the fans, C.ex Coffs International Stadium and City of Coffs Harbour Council for their support of the Sixers and look forward to strengthening our connection with the community.”
Fitzgibbon said C.ex Coffs International Stadium continued to cement its reputation as one of Australia’s premier regional venues.
This year, the stadium has hosted or will host the Coffs Coast Festival of Rugby, featuring international teams from Australia, Japan and Fiji, national Touch Football Australia and Oztag events, and the Freestyle Kings as part of their world tour.
“While the stadium is already extensively booked, we are always open to opportunities for marquee events,” Fitzgibbon said.
