Wingham residents are a step closer to safer and more reliable travel, with construction of the Isabella and Primrose streets roundabout continuing despite challenging conditions.
Crews have made solid progress on the project, overcoming delays caused by wet weather and unexpected discoveries beneath the existing road. Multiple large logs, old stormwater pipes and water mains were uncovered during excavation, requiring additional work to remove the obstacles and replace them with rock to create a stronger, longer-lasting road foundation.
Current work includes the complete excavation of the eastern side of Isabella Street at the roundabout, placing the sub-base pavement layer in Isabella Street, trenching for underground electrical infrastructure for new street lighting, stormwater protection works, and commencing the next pavement layer throughout the roundabout.
Once completed, the new roundabout will improve safety and traffic flow for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians travelling through one of Wingham’s key intersections.
The project is expected to be completed in early October 2026, weather permitting.
