The Northern Rivers will turn pink, purple and every colour in between on Friday, 31 July, as the community comes together for Tutu Day for Our Kids.
From mayors and CEOs to doctors, nurses, local businesses, sporting clubs and community members, people across the region will don tutus to raise funds for paediatric medical equipment for local hospitals.
“Tutu Day was launched last year and the Northern Rivers embraced it with incredible enthusiasm,” said Rebekka Battista, Our Kids Fundraising Coordinator.
“The Ballina RSL Club and Cherry Street Sports Club led the way by proudly pulling on their tutus to support Our Kids.
This year, the campaign has grown even bigger, with more than 53 teams registered, including staff from Lismore Base Hospital and Tweed Valley Hospital.”
Support for the campaign has continued to grow, with Ballina RSL Club, Cherry Street Sports Club, Ballina Golf Club, Lismore Workers Club, Club Lennox, Murwillumbah Services Club, South Tweed Bowls and Club Tweed, as well as Ballina Mayor Sharon Cadwallader and Lismore Mayor Steve Krieg, taking part.
“It is so encouraging to see so many businesses, workplaces, schools, sporting clubs and community groups embracing the fun while raising funds to help local children receive the best possible medical care close to home,” Ms Battista said.
“Our vision is to see Tutu Day become a Northern Rivers tradition. It’s a simple, fun way for everyone to get involved and make a real difference for local kids.”
Participants can register individually, join or create a team with friends, family or colleagues, or donate to someone taking part in the fundraiser.
