Beach 5s set to bring two days of footy action to Forster

Forster Main Beach will be transformed into a beachside sporting arena next month as the Barrington Coast Beach 5s Championships return for two days of competition.

The popular five-a-side event will take place on November 21 and 22, bringing teams from across regional and metropolitan New South Wales to the Mid North Coast.

Following a successful debut in 2025, organisers are preparing for an even bigger event this year, with players of all ages and abilities set to compete on the sand.

The championships combine fast-paced footy with a relaxed coastal atmosphere, offering plenty of action for players and spectators alike.

Competition gets underway on Saturday, November 21, with senior and under-17/18 teams taking to the beach.

Divisions include Masters, Men’s Premier, Open Men’s, Open Women’s and under-17/18 boys’ and girls’ competitions.

The focus will shift to younger players on Sunday, November 22, with school and junior teams competing in under-12 mixed and under-13 to under-16 boys’ and girls’ divisions.

Senior teams will have more than bragging rights on the line, with winners securing free team entry to another Beach 5s event of their choice.

Beyond the competition, the event is expected to attract visitors to Forster, providing a boost for local businesses as players and supporters make the most of the region’s beaches, cafés, accommodation and coastal attractions.

The championships have received support through MidCoast Council’s Grants, Donations and Sponsorship program.

Registrations are now open through Rugby Xplorer, with opportunities for social men’s, open women’s, junior and school teams to take part.

Teams can register through the Beach 5s website.

More information is available on the Barrington Coast website.
