Nominations open for 2027 Nambucca Valley Community Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2027 Nambucca Valley Community Awards, recognising residents who volunteer their time and make valuable contributions to the local community.

Nambucca Valley Council is encouraging residents to nominate individuals who go above and beyond to support others, with nominations closing at 4pm on Friday 13 November.

Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee, who also sits on the Community Awards Advisory Committee, said the 2027 event would be an opportunity to recognise outstanding residents while welcoming new Australian citizens.

“This Nambucca Valley Community Awards is going to be exceptional in 2027 and it will welcome our new citizens as well as congratulate existing residents who do great things,” he said.

“Our community is full of talented, humble, and generous people, and in January 2027 we will be celebrating what they do to make our valley a special place.

“So think of who you know who gives to our community, or who makes an exceptional neighbour or who gives back in one of our valley’s cultural centres.

“We’d love to receive your nomination for eligible residents in both community and sports awards categories by 4pm Friday 13 November.”

The awards recognise contributions across a range of areas, including community service, sport, environmental initiatives and cultural achievements.

Award categories include:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year

  • Young Indigenous Citizen of the Year
  • Services to the Community
  • Environmental Award
  • Good Neighbour Award
  • Cultural Achievement Award
  • Sports Achievement Awards, including Junior Sports Person, Senior Sports Person, Junior Sports Team and Senior Sports Team.

Council is reminding residents to review the nomination guidelines before submitting an application.

Nominees must not receive payment for the service or contribution being recognised, and nominations cannot be submitted by family members of the nominee.

The 2027 awards ceremony is expected to take place in January, with the official date and venue to be announced.
