Veteran bikers to roar out of Mullumbimby for Byron’s Fletcher Street Cottage

Veterans Motorcycle Club.

Engines will fire up at the Mullumbimby Cenotaph this Saturday, as veteran bikers hit the road to help mates who have fallen on hard times.

The Northern NSW Chapter of the Veterans Motorcycle Club is holding its Lest We Forget Dice Run on Saturday, 31 October, raising money for Fletcher Street Cottage in Byron Bay.

The money will help the cottage provide meals, emergency relief, and essential support to local veterans and others doing it tough.

“Many of us know mates who’ve done it tough after leaving the Defence Force,” said Veterans Motorcycle Club Northern NSW Chapter President Steve ‘Bones’ Williams.

“This ride is about looking after our own – raising awareness and practical support for veterans who’ve fallen on hard times.”

“Fletcher Street Cottage does incredible work helping people in need, and we’re proud to support their mission.”

Fletcher Street Cottage offers support, advocacy, and referral services to people facing hardship across the Byron region.

Each month, it handles around 900 visits, helping people with food, showers, laundry, health, and housing.

“We’re honoured to be chosen as the beneficiary of this ride,” said Fletcher Street Cottage Manager Damian Farrell.

“The funds raised will directly support local veterans and others in need with meals, crisis support and vital services.”

He said the ongoing partnership with the club made a real difference.

“It’s community-driven initiatives like this that remind us what true solidarity looks like,” he said.

Riders can also try their luck in raffles at every stop, with more than $1,000 in prize money up for grabs.

“We are grateful to everyone who rides, donates and champions this cause.”
