$500 up for grabs for MidCoast Australia Day events

Australia Day

Planning a community barbecue, breakfast, or ceremony for Australia Day? MidCoast community groups can now apply for a $500 boost to help make it happen.

MidCoast Council is offering eligible community groups and organisations a one-off $500 donation to support free Australia Day activities in their local area.

The money can go towards a range of activities, including:

  • community breakfasts and barbecues
  • ceremonies
  • award presentations
  • cultural activities
  • entertainment
  • other community-focused events.

But there is a catch. Only one event per location will be eligible for funding.

MidCoast Mayor Alan Tickle encouraged eligible groups to apply.

“Australia Day activities are organised locally across the MidCoast and can take many different forms,” Mayor Tickle said.

“This funding is about supporting community groups to create free, welcoming activities that bring people together and encourage participation within their local community.”

Local community groups play a big part in bringing people together, giving people across the MidCoast the chance to connect, take part, and mark the day in ways that are meaningful to their community.
