Christmas has come early for travellers between Sydney and Grafton with NSW TrainLink adding four additional daily coach services during December.
Between 3 and 31 December, two extra daily services will run in each direction, boosting capacity between Sydney Central and the north coast during the peak travel period.
These extra services are in addition to the existing two daily Sydney to Grafton coach services that run in each direction while trains undergo major maintenance under the XPT life extension project.
The additional coaches will be run by the existing Grafton service operator, North coast-based Forest Coach Lines.
There will be two additional services leaving Sydney around mid-morning every day and two additional services leaving Grafton early in the morning each day.
They will be air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible vehicles, with toilets.
Chief Executive of NSW TrainLink Roger Weeks said the extra services provided passengers with more options for travel to connect with family and friends.
“Adding extra connections between Sydney and Grafton during the holiday season means people have more options to travel to see family and friends or book a trip during the holiday season,” Mr Weeks said.
“It’s part of our commitment to ensure a more reliable service for all of our regional passengers,” he said.
“Bookings on all NSW TrainLink services are essential and with demand at its highest over the summer period, we advise people to plan now to secure a spot.”
As well as NSW TrainLink’s temporary coach service to and from Grafton, there are four daily rail options to and from the North Coast, with the Sydney to Brisbane and Sydney to Casino services.
