Lismore City Council has appointed Eire Constructions to deliver the Browns Creek Pump Station upgrade, a major flood resilience project aimed at reducing flood impacts and supporting the city’s long-term recovery from the 2022 floods.
The upgrade is expected to help protect homes and businesses by improving the city’s flood mitigation infrastructure.
Lismore Mayor Steve Krieg said the project was about more than infrastructure.
“Browns Creek is a huge project for Lismore – not just in terms of its physical scale, but what it means for our community and our local economy,” Krieg said.
“It’s about laying the right foundations for our community to look ahead with confidence, as Lismore continues to grow stronger and better prepared.”
Eire Constructions was appointed following a competitive tender process. Council said the company demonstrated the experience, capability and technical expertise required to deliver the project.
Construction timing will be confirmed later this year. In the meantime, Eire Constructions will work with Council’s Flood Restoration Portfolio to finalise the design, plan construction activities and identify opportunities to maximise the project’s long-term community benefits.
The project is funded by the Australian Government’s National Emergency Management Agency through the Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program and is administered by the NSW Reconstruction Authority.
