Roundabout confirmed for Valla Beach Road and Giinagay Way intersection

The Valla Beach community has welcomed confirmation that a new roundabout will be built at the intersection of Valla Beach Road and Giinagay Way, following long-running safety concerns and community advocacy.

The announcement follows repeated crashes and near misses at the intersection since changes were made to the road layout in 2023. Locals have described the site as one of the most dangerous in the Nambucca Valley, with residents calling for a permanent safety upgrade.

Member for Oxley [insert name if applicable] said the project is a direct result of strong community pressure. “Since the changes were made to this road layout in 2023, we have seen repeated crashes and near misses that have left locals deeply concerned for their safety,” they said.

“Out of all the intersections in the Nambucca Valley, this is the one my office has received the most correspondence about. The community has been clear and consistent in their calls for change, with a roundabout being one of the solutions often raised,” they said.

“For more than 12 months, I have been making representations to Transport for NSW on behalf of residents. Transport has taken too long to make this intersection a priority, but it is good to see the Minister expediting the solution. We know most government responses take a long time, so I was pleased to hear the Minister say that Transport won’t take their foot off the pedal, and construction should start this year.”

They said the outcome is a testament to the persistence of the Valla Beach community. “I know how much this intersection has weighed on locals, and I will continue to advocate to ensure this roundabout is delivered without delay.”
