The Dorrigo Plateau’s creative community is preparing to take centre stage, with the 2026 Dorrigo Easter Art Exhibition opening tomorrow at the Dorrigo Community Hall.
A highlight of the region’s Easter calendar, the long-running exhibition has been bringing artists and visitors together since 1990, showcasing the depth and diversity of talent across the plateau. This year’s event promises another engaging and visually striking display, with works spanning a wide range of mediums and styles.
The 2026 theme, “ON THE EDGE,” draws inspiration from the area’s dramatic natural landscape, from waterfalls and escarpments to sweeping lookout views, while also encouraging artists to explore ideas of risk, change and the realities of the modern world. The result is expected to be a thought-provoking exhibition reflecting both place and perspective.
Open to artists living on the Dorrigo Plateau, the exhibition features entries across categories including painting, watercolour, drawing and printmaking, photography, sculpture and fibre art. A youth category for artists aged 13 to 18 will also showcase emerging creative voices from the region.
Curated by Rudy Kistler and Sue Langfield, this year’s exhibition brings together a carefully selected body of work that captures the unique character of the plateau. Judging will be carried out by Pamela Denise and David Tucker, with prize money and awards to be presented across all sections.
Opening night will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31, from 6 pm, offering an opportunity for the community and visitors to come together and experience the exhibition in a lively and welcoming setting. Following the opening, the exhibition will run daily from 10 am to 3pm through to Wednesday, April 8.
Beyond the artworks themselves, the exhibition plays an important role in strengthening community connections and drawing visitors to the region over the Easter period. Bellingen Shire Council supports its continued success through its Community Grants program.
With its mix of local storytelling, creative exploration and community spirit, the Dorrigo Easter Art Exhibition remains a standout event on the regional arts calendar, and with doors opening tomorrow, organisers are encouraging locals and visitors alike to step inside and experience it for themselves.
