A Taree man has been charged following an alleged incident inside the women’s toilets of a local shopping centre, as well as an alleged breach of an apprehended violence order.
Police from the Manning/Great Lakes Police District were told that about 2pm on Wednesday, 15 April, a man entered the women’s toilets at a shopping centre on Manning Street, Taree.
It is alleged the man remained inside for about 10 minutes.
Several women reported the incident to centre security, who confronted the man a short time later before he allegedly left the premises.
Following inquiries, officers arrested a 38-year-old man about 4.40pm on Friday, 17 April, at a home in Taree. He was taken to Taree Police Station.
He was charged with contravening a prohibition/restriction in an AVO (Domestic), observing a person in a private act without consent, and behaving in an offensive manner in or near a public place or school.
The man was refused bail to appear at a bail division court today on Saturday, 18 April, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Taree Local Court on Tuesday, 21 April.
