A man has been charged with additional offences following a fatal crash on the state’s north coast.
Emergency services were called to Minorie Drive at Toormina, south of Coffs Harbour, about 12.15am on Saturday 21 February 2026, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and found a sedan had collided with an unoccupied truck.
The front passenger, an 18-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.
The driver, a 27-year-old man, was treated for minor injuries before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing and further assessment under police guard.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash began with assistance from specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.
After being released from hospital, the 27-year-old was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with driving-related offences. He remains before the court.
Police said officers received mandatory blood test results on Sunday 10 May 2026, which allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.165.
Following further inquiries, the man was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death – PCA, dangerous driving occasioning death – drive under influence, and high-range PCA.
He was due to appear before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday, 12 May.
