Tuntable Creek Road will close for approximately 12 months from 6 July 2026 to allow for major reconstruction works on a section severely impacted by the 2022 natural disasters.
The project, being delivered by Lismore City Council’s Flood Restoration Portfolio and contractor CMC Hull JV, will replace the temporary repair installed in 2023 with a permanent stabilisation and road reconstruction solution designed to improve long-term safety and resilience.
The works form part of Council’s broader Landslip Restoration Package and are jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
The reconstruction will involve complex geotechnical and civil engineering works, including stabilising steep terrain, rebuilding the road foundation and addressing ongoing ground movement risks at the site.
Due to the scale and complexity of the works, a full road closure between Rose Road and Young Road is required to maintain community and worker safety and ensure the project is completed as efficiently as possible.
Additional repairs on nearby landslips will be undertaken at the same time.

Early site establishment works are scheduled to commence on 29 June 2026, ahead of the full closure in July.
Council acknowledged the significant impact the closure will have on residents, businesses and road users, and thanked the community for its patience while the essential long-term reconstruction is carried out. The project is expected to deliver a more durable and resilient outcome for the community.
Council will continue to provide regular updates and works notifications throughout the construction process, with detailed FAQs already available on its website.
